Local residents to benefit from lawyers’ Mitzvah Day collection
Local residents from across north London are set to benefit from a collection carried out by a Finchley-based law firm to mark Mitzvah Day.
Professionals from OGR Stock Denton Solicitors have today delivered a range of urgently needed food items, including tinned foods, and non-food items, such as washing powder, to the Collindale Foodbank, which will be used to help people in need across north London.
The Collindale Foodbank was set up by a group of local churches, working in collaboration with the Trussell Trust and aims to provide a lifeline to people referred to them by agencies across the local area.
Mitzvah Day is a day of social action led by members of the Jewish faith, which brings together thousands of people of all faiths and none to make a difference in their local communities. It is the largest multi-faith day of social action in the UK, with 40,000 volunteers contributing more than 150,000 hours of their time in 2016.
Peter Martin, a Partner at OGR Stock Denton Solicitors, said: “Mitzvah Day is a wonderful opportunity to bring together people from a diverse range of backgrounds to make a difference for an equally diverse range of people locally.
“I am delighted that we have been able to play a part here at OGR Stock Denton Solicitors and help make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable members of our local community.
“Here at OGR Stock Denton Solicitors, we are committed to contributing positively to our local community and I would like to thank our team for their donations.”
OGR Stock Denton Solicitors is a long-standing supporter of the Mitzvah Day initiative and last year collected thermal clothing for a local homeless shelter.
